Originally, this month was meant to be a continuation of last month’s deep dive into LOTL techniques with Sliver and sharpsh. If you’ve been following along, you definitely deserve an update and here it is: we did get the cheat sheet to a solid starting point, as promised. You can find it here: sliver-c2-sharpsh-cheat-sheet.
Have you seen it yet? Hak5 released their newest gadget, the WiFi Pineapple Pager, a battery powered Pineapple that fits right in your pocket. Well, ours just got delivered, and it’s been hard to put it down ever since. You may have also noticed that gorgeous Cyberpunk theme in the blog banner, which, we cannot take credit for. However, you can find it on this link. All we did was tweak it slightly and slap our logo on it. So, a big shout out to Doc Voom, the author behind the theme. To a couple of cyberpunk nerds, this thing is absolute perfection, so thank you for the amazing work! It set up this month’s banner image perfectly for Johnny Silverhand, Jackie and Takemura! The level of community dedication around these gadgets is honestly unmatched. It’s so cool to see payloads, tools, themes, getting pushed so fast.
Speaking of which, there are all sorts of community resources out there already, ported DOOM to it?! Amazing, truly amazing!
Please, send help! We can’t stop tinkering.
Damn you Hak5! It’s difficult to explain why this WiFi-Pineapple-nano-with-a-screen-and-battery-now-called-a-pager is so fun to pay with, but it’s like, as you hold it, you just know that there are like-minded peeps out there admiring the same thing and developing cool things for it and we want in on it.
We started our initial poking around with something simple ā Snake in C. Compile it, drop it on the device, tweak it for hardware compatibility… and then things got out of hand…pretty quickly. Then came Pong. Then Packet Catcher. Then it was like, why not try a cyberpunk themed turn-based RPG?? So yeah…. that’s how Netrunner 2084 started.
Since we don’t know no better, and wanted to dive in, we decided to dive in even more. The Pager already takes some of us back to the 90s⦠so why not lean into it? May we present you, Null-Buddy! Null-Buddy is not an average one Tamagotchi! Well, yes it has all the traditional interactions, like gain XP, level up, feed and pet. But also reads the size of your recon.db and rewards extra XP for newly discovered networks. Oh! and there’s a New Game+ mode too … so git gud. First, check out the trailer we just dropped >>
If you loved that like we did, here’s how to install the games, head over to the GitHub repo. Don’t you worry! Instructions are all included.

Once Null-Buddy make a home inside your Pineapple Pager, he can be named, then the fun starts! He can be fed, petted, and play a minigame for extra XP. Our favorite feature is tucked away in the Options. There is a option here to feed Null-Buddy new SSIDs scanned by the device, and gain XP from that reading! So the more SSIDs found, the more XP Null-Buddy gets! Like… Pokemon Go in a way, just… wardriving! š
Jack In. Explore Everything.
We are excited to check out all the amazing community resources that coming out. There’s so much to explore, and we plan to keep building little tools and games along the way. We’re also putting together a small WiFi home lab; dusted off an old router from the closet, hooked up the Raspberry Pis, and started exploring the true purpose of the Pineapple Pager… games. errr, we mean WiFi hacking. Yea, WiFi hacking… š¤£
The release of the Pager has honestly been a real inspiration to get more involved in this space, finding ways to blend creativity and technology together.
In other news, OffSec held their first in person meetup, and we were fortunate to be close enough to go and check it out. It was packed! Props to Unallocated Space for hosting and for providing the tour. Parking was packed, full house of around 40 of us nerds in there.
Discussions included OffSec courses, guest speakers, and of course AI as center stage since the OSAI course is right around the corner. There was even a small hands-on demo in their lab environment, allowing attendees to get a live feel of prompt injection attack on an AI agent.
Wrapping up now, we hope those of you who have a chance to check out Null-Buddy enjoy the company!
Later Chooms!!
